EcoChallenge 2012

Doug Rich

My third Eco-challenge builds on past tradition of reducing: automobile use and water consumption, and eliminating red meat. I have added another aspect which is to engage at least five people/week in discussions about nature, improving personal health and how lifestyle choices may impact the environment. No, I will not be preaching or reprimanding.

Day 5 Report. After three days of shaking, snarling, and headaches, I found that giving up bananas was harder than giving up coffee. I will admit to a couple of breaches, though accidental, such as smearing avocado on a quesadilla and mustard on a sandwich. They were reflexive actions, as so much of our daily behaviour has become. Mindful eating could form the basis of a mindful lifestyle; start with the basics., small steps. After just a few days, it doesn't seem as difficult or as odd. Thank you for your support and good luck fellow EcoChallengers!

Go Dug! You are an inspiration to all. Lucky for my family and work colleagues I don''t give up coffee. I think they grow and roast beans within a 50 mile radius of my home here outside of Boston.

Wise to give up driving along with the coffee; lack of coffee could cause road rage.

Sorry if this is too late.I've been in USA out of communication. A good substitute for soy sauce is Bragg liquid Aminos, www.bragg.com. I've been on anti-everything diet and it seemed to help some joint pain, but now I've read the latest best for anti-cancer is almost South Beach diet, with more protein. Let Steve Jobs be an example, maybe more of meditation
