EcoChallenge 2012

Multnomah County

Multnomah County Yeon Complex

The Yeon Complex is comprised of the Department of Community Services Director's Office, Survey Office, Land Use and Transportation Planning Program, Road Services as well as the Department of County Management's Fleet Services, Records and Electronic Services.

We plan to focus on the following three categories for this year's EcoChallenge.

Alternative transportation:
* Minimize car trips by “chaining” together errands and meetings or by running errands on the way to or from work, instead of making separate trips
* Take the bus, ride a bike, walk or carpool to get to and from work
* Walk, bike, or take public transit to attend meetings or run errands within one or two miles (one for walking, two for biking or busing) of work

Green meetings and events:
* Turn off lights when leaving a meeting room (or any room!)
* Turn off computers, monitors and projectors when not in use
* Take notes and write agendas electronically or on white boards

Trash reduction:
* Use reusable water bottles instead of buying bottled water
* Use a reusable mug
* Bring a zero waste lunch
